This season, the Sound Tigers will open their doors for 38 games home games at their home, the Arena at Harbor Yard.

Over the weekend, the roles were reversed as the fans opened their doors to the Sound Tigers. The Podrazik family invited representatives from the team, including coach Pat Bingham, player Pascal Morency, Storm, and the front office staff to share a barbeque with friends and family at their Milford residence.

The event was a first for the Sound Tigers, who earlier this summer launched the “Backyard Barbeque Program,” as a way to reach out and give back to fans in a unique way. Sound Tigers’ Vice-President of Operations, Luke Milbury, was amongst the attendees of the barbeque. “This is actually the first time we’ve tried something like this. It’s very exciting for all of us here at the Sound Tigers,” he stated. “It’s an interesting experiment, the backyard barbeque. We just want to get out there in the community as much as we can.”

The team not only brought out the slap shot machine and the prize wheel (from which most guests received a free Sound Tigers t-shirt!), but also provided food and beverage for all to enjoy. Corporate Account Executive Cian Stein manned the grill and could just barely keep up with the demand for the burgers and dogs from the over fifty hungry guests.

Sound Tiger Pascal Morency made the trip to Milford to visit with the Podrazik family, who were his neighbors during the 2007-08 season and whom have since become close friends. All the partygoers were excited to get to opportunity to see one of the Sound Tigers’ most popular players up close. Morency not only displayed his athletic skills in a game of pick up football, but showed the kids in attendance how to master the slap shot machine.

“I think the party is wonderful,” exclaimed Morency. “There are a lot of great people, I think everybody is having fun. There are games to play: football, hockey, baseball—you name it. I think it’s great for all the kids who are playing and for everybody to see each other and have a good time.”

“It’s a great opportunity for players to get to know the fans and vice-versa,” he said during a brief break from signing autographs alongside Sound Tiger coach Pat Bingham.

Everyone in attendance seemed to appreciate the opportunity to interact with these local stars from the hometown team. “To have coach Pat Bingham and Pascal Morency’s in attendance means a lot to these people,” observed Milbury, upon seeing the vast crowd that had assembled around the autograph table.
